Melin is one of the founding partners of Twelve Tables. After graduating with a BSc from UCL, and supporting the CEO of one of the world’s first digital music management businesses of the early noughties, where she did everything from A&R to generally being a ‘girl Friday’ to the CEO, Melin decided to pursue a career in law.
Wanting to be close to clients from day one, Melin trained in-house at JPMorgan Chase and after nearly 8 years there went on to become the group legal counsel for Totally Money, a private equity backed FinTech start-up, where she was responsible for all legal and regulatory matters.
Melin ultimately leveraged that banking and start-up experience during a year’s interim consultancy role at Barclays supporting the Design and Digital team crafting bespoke agreements for the development of cutting edge technologies and third-party collaborations.
Melin has advised clients ranging from entrepreneurs and household brands to both national and global businesses, having particular expertise in FMCG, financial services and start-ups. Her practice spans the entire gamut of commercial, technology, advertising and sponsorship law and recent highlights include: leading on the launch of the YouTube channel for Coca-Cola in the UK; advising Diet Coke on the Absolutely Fabulous film (2016); the 2016 rebranding of Schweppes; and UK launch of the Honest brand.
Melin has two children who firmly keep any free-time at bay, and her hobbies now mainly involve messy play.
Tanveer is a founding partner of Twelve Tables. He is a corporate lawyer with experience in private funds, finance and general commercial matters.
Tanveer read Mathematics and Philosophy at Kings College, London before taking the legal conversion course at BPP Law School and completing the Legal Practice Course at University of Westminster. He trained at a niche commercial practice in London working with large international companies and financial institutions, mainly from Turkey and South Korea such as Koç Holding (owner of white goods manufacturer Beko), Turkiye Iş Bankası, Samsung Group and Hyundai.
He then joined the corporate team in the London office of Dundas & Wilson (which was eventually acquired by CMS Cameron McKenna) advising on a wide range of corporate transactions including the attempted takeover of British Energy, leading on a series of acquisitions for AXA as they looked to grow a network of IFAs and working on the private-equity backed management buyout of GAIL’s bakery.
After a period working with a boutique commercial law firm in London where he was exposed to an array of corporate, finance and commercial work including the establishment of a private equity funding platform for real estate investment as well as advising junior creditors on a c.US$170 million senior loan facility for an Indonesian mining company, he joined the market leading funds and indirect real assets team at Nabarro LLP as a senior associate.
At Nabarro LLP, and subsequently CMS Cameron McKenna following the three-way merger in May 2017, Tanveer advised pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, property and logistics companies on private equity real estate investments, joint ventures and structured or ‘wrapped’ real estate sales and purchases. Transactions Tanveer worked on included advising Goodman Group and Legal & General on the sale of the Arlington Business Parks portfolio to US PE house, TPG Real Estate and also advising AXA, Temasek and a large Canadian pension fund on their joint venture arrangements for the acquisition of the site of the ‘Pinnacle’ development in the City.
Tanveer happens to also have two children and, to make his time management even more challenging, recently acquired a puppy.
